Drive By Post

I'm traveling for work this week but I brought my personal computer. I thought I'd do a quick post....here are the latest Cotton Club blocks. Missing one but I hope to start it soon. I really enjoyed these three. When I sewed them I was just in a zen place. Not everything went well but even frogging didn't pull me out of my zen spot. I love it when that happens!

I've been fiddling around with those pesky flying geese. I still haven't decided if I'm going to keep working on them or trash them. For now, they remain alive and well and on my sewing table.

They measure 1 1/8" x 1 3/4".

See you on the other side of the weekend! Happy Stitches!

Small But Done!

It is a small finish but a finish nonetheless!

Excuse the poor photos-I just wasn't in a color correcting mood. I finished this myself - pretty easy but a little fiddly due to it's small size and my big hands. It's hard to see in the photograph but there is cording around the edges. After working on big projects lately this was refreshing!

We finished our closet reorg this weekend. It turned into being less of a reorg and more of a modification of the closet organizer we already had. It's amazing how quickly "stuff" accumulates. We clean closets regularly and I'm always surprised. Next weekend it's Jake's closet. We're completely replacing his closet organizer. Getting him to edit his things will take an Act of Congress. The best I can hope for is that he'll pack up everything and it all won't make it back into his room.

Thank you all for your visits and your comments. May all your stitches be happy ones!

It's My Eyes That are Crossing!

Here is my July We Bee Learning Bee Block for Trina. She chose this block and asked for purple, black and white with the background being white. She lives in Canada and I'm trying to get it in the mail early this month. It seems my blocks are taking a minimum of two weeks to reach my Canadian bee mates. Next month is my month and I've been thinking of block selection and color.

Thank you all for your suggestions and tips about stitching over 1. I've gotten the first row done and I'm going to put your tips into practice on row 2. I have to say, stitching over 1 isn't my favorite, especially on 40 count. I feel like it's my eyes that are crossing instead of my stitches sometimes. For those of you who enjoy over 1 or do it all at once, I'm in awe. I'm having to pace myself and I'm not sure I'll get it all done before the rest of it.

Several of you sent me your favorite links too. You can find some of them here, here, here, here and here. Some really good stuff that you shared! Thank you!

Greg painted Jake's room yesterday and I love the gray color we found - Glidden's Granite Grey (you can see it on someone else's wall here). We lightened it 25% and I'm glad we did. Carpet estimate this week as well and today we made our final selection and placed our order. Next up - closet reorgs. We put in built ins years ago that sit on the floor so before the carpet people come, we need to make whatever changes we need to make. Jake's closet is coming out and being replaced and we'll probably remove one element from ours and do some tweaking. We'll all be glad when this is done.

I hope you all have had a good weekend and enjoy a good week. Thank you for your visits, your comments, and the inspiration!

Jumani June!

I'm a couple of days late in posting my Theme-a-licous update for June. What else is new?
June's theme was Jumani June - which was defined as:
Is it a jungle out there in your stash? Give some love to the projects with animals or birds.

As I picked up AotH, I realized the block I was working on had swans on it. Score!

I probably had about 25% of this completed before June. Since June also entailed a week of vacation in the mountains, I was able to finish this block except for personalizations, which will come later. It's a beautiful block but probably my least favorite so far to stitch. You can see I also haven't gotten to those lazy daisy stitches in the previous block.

I didn't have a hobby filled weekend. We've decided to replace the carpet in our bedrooms and that has led to plans to repaint Jake's room and closet shelving reorgs. We still have some planning to do but the execution stage over the next few weeks will be a lot of work. Think emptying out closets. Ugh!

Oh, before I forget - I've started the over 1 stitching on Ann Dale. I've done very little over 1. Any of you out there have tips on technique? I know to not leave it all until the end but other than that, I could use some pointers!

Wishing you all a safe and happy 4th of July and a belated Canada Day!
